How much will it cost to rent a Crate?
What is included in the cost?
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes, one month’s rent is required as a deposit.
Are there any additional costs, for example utilities, rates, licenses?
Can I share the space?
You are welcome to share the space if you find another business that you want to share. Please note that only one business will sign up to the license terms and will be responsible for the rent. The physical signage (name above the entrance) on your Crate will also be this business. All digital marketing for CRATE will include both businesses.
Who is liable for what?
Will I need Insurance?
Buildings insurance is the responsibility of CRATE. Contents insurance is the responsibility of tenant businesses.
What is the layout of the space?
Your crate is your own blank canvas. We offer different sizes (a desk, a half Crate, a single Crate).
What are the specific dimensions?
Can I dress my window?
Yes, you can dress your window and we encourage this.
Is there high-speed internet WiFi?
Yes, we provide telecoms infrastructure – 5Mb/s dedicated internet connectivity included in the price (one off cost for your router). Extra 5Mb/s bandwidth, landline and handsets available for additional monthly fee.
Can the WiFi carry credit card transactions?
Yes, the use of the dedicated WiFi connection is recommended for security as the public site WiFi is open and not encrypted. Internet security is the responsibility of users but provided that basic security is followed regarding using secure connections for sensitive communications credit card transactions can be taken.
What are CRATE’s trading hours?
Core trading hours are 8am to 8pm seven days per week, with site access from 7am weekdays and outside of these hours for evening events. Tenant access is available outside these hours. The scheme will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Is there back stock space?
Storage of your stock is in your Crate. We can support you in designing your Crate to ensure you make the most of your space.
What sort of night time lighting is there and how secure is my module?
We have street lighting, CRATE lighting, CCTV, access-controlled fobs after-hours CRATE hours and other security measures to ensure you and your business are safe and secure 24x7. On the ground floor, we have internal time-activated shutters.
Is the site serviced and cleaned daily?
The site is cleaned daily and we have a full-time site curator.
What is the average footfall at a CRATE site?
Footfall is generated from CRATE site marketing and the collective awareness of and marketing of Craters. We anticipate strong footfall particularly tied into community and events.
Are there regular events at CRATE?
We plan to have regular events at CRATE throughout the year. These will involve the local community, CRATE businesses, other local businesses and schools in the community. Events will include food, music, product launches, outdoor cinema and fund-raising.
What support can give me with fit-out and when can I get on site?
CRATE can provide advice and guidance on how best to fit-out your Crate. We anticipate providing access two-weeks before scheme launch. Each business pays its own fit-out costs. We do not charge Crate rental during your fit-out phase.
What signage will I be allowed?
Each Crate will have consistent external signage above their units and centrally located. Each business can personalise their window displays as they like.
